Recovery Protocol for Back-to-Back Training Days
April 2026
When training sessions are close together, recovery needs to be planned. Learn how to manage food, hydration, sleep, and intensity.
Overview
Back-to-back training days can work well, but only when recovery is planned. Without a plan, fatigue can build quickly.
After the first session
Refuel with protein and carbohydrates, drink fluids, and avoid delaying recovery meals for too long.
Between sessions
Prioritise sleep, light mobility, and lower stress. Avoid unnecessary extra activity if the next session is important.
Adjust intensity
Not every day can be hard. Alternating hard and easier sessions helps reduce injury risk and improve consistency.
