Endurance Problems May Be Fueling Problems
October 2025
Sometimes poor performance is not a fitness issue. It may be linked to hydration, food timing, mineral balance, or poor recovery.
Overview
When endurance performance drops, it is easy to blame fitness. In many cases, the issue is actually fueling, hydration, pacing, or recovery.
Common signs
Heavy legs, sudden energy crashes, poor concentration, headaches, and unusual fatigue can all be linked with poor fueling or hydration.
Plan your intake
For longer sessions, practise taking fluids and carbohydrates before race day. Your stomach needs training too.
Support the routine
Mineral-rich supplements may support a broader routine, but they do not replace carbohydrates, electrolytes, and fluids during long efforts.
